Fifteenth Regional Seminar on Good Governance for Southeast Asian Countries

The 15th Regional Seminar on Good Governance for Southeast Asian Countries, known as the GG seminar, was hosted online by UNAFEI from 20 to 22 December 2021. The theme of the seminar was "Effective International Cooperation for Combating Corruption". Eighteen anti-corruption practitioners from nine ASEAN countries (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam) plus Timor-Leste participated. Ms. Kate Cheuk from the Independent Commission Against Corruption in Hong Kong, China, attended as a visiting expert. Mr. SEKI Yoshitaka also attended as a lecturer from the International Affairs Division, Criminal Bureau, Ministry of Justice of Japan. In addition, a participant from the Central Internal Affairs Committee of Viet Nam joined the seminar for the first time, and a total of 56 observers from various anti-corruption organizations and the Ministry of Justice of Japan participated.

Each participant made a presentation regarding the legal system and practices in his or her country on the theme of the seminar. The participants' presentations also shared the latest situation of corruption and best practices in the participating countries. The seminar was concluded by the presentation of the Chair's Summary of the discussions.

The 16th GG seminar will also be held in Tokyo, however, we hope it can be held in person rather than online.
